Garfield Music Needs Your Help
Friends of Garfield Music is looking for parents and guardians of students to take on the following leadership roles next year, to keep our wonderful program thriving while ensuring no one person has to do too much:
Winter waltz logistics lead: Lead the planning for FOGM’s social event of the year. Work closely with Juanita McLaughlin, who has led the waltz planning for the past two years, before she graduates in order to benefit from her experience. Coordinate with other returning parents to continue this wonderful tradition for our students and community.
Band trip lead: Help make sure our 2–3 band trips per year go off without a hitch by arranging buses, hotels, and meals.
Volunteer coordinator: Recruit for volunteer needs that come up during the year, such as trip chaperones and bake sale staffing.
Communications: Attend FOGM meetings, then compose and send emails to keep band, orchestra, and drumline families informed about upcoming concerts and events.
Social media: Amplify FOGM news and announcements through our Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Fundraising Lead: Help preserve the long-term quality of our program in the face of district budget cuts through fundraising and grant-writing.
Floral coordinator: Purchase flowers for concerts and other special events. Filled—thank you!!!
If you have questions or are able to take on one of these roles to support our 2026–27 executive team, made up of Alix Wandesford-Smith, Keren Kang, Colleen Kennedy, Kenny Wolf, Karen Lewis, and Paige Kang-Lopez, please contact Brad Chamberlain at website@garfieldhemusic.org.
