Please do the following for each of your student musicians:

2. Contribute an activity fee

The requested contribution is $200 per student per year, which covers the basic operating costs of our band, orchestra, and drumline programs through the Friends of Garfield Music (FOGM) parent group. FOGM’s goal is to provide access to an excellent music education for all Garfield students, regardless of their level of experience or resources, as the school district does not provide funding for music programs beyond the teachers and use of existing instruments. Please note that any music trips taken during the year will incur their own fees to cover the costs of hotels, transportation, and food.

For example, last year FOGM funds covered:

• the purchase of new instruments, including a vibraphone, cellos, basses, and flutes

• gear such as drumheads, strings, reeds, mutes, tuners, rosin, …

• 40+ new music scores

• 300+ hours of professional music coaching for small groups and 1:1

• $3300+ in trip scholarships and $2700+ in instrument repairs

• 140+ pizzas on game and winter waltz nights

We understand that this request may be a burden to some. Please pay what you can and don’t let the fee prevent you from registering your students or having them participate in Garfield music.

The information you enter below will be used by Garfield’s music teachers and FOGM to contact families about events and activities throughout the year. Your information will not be shared with any other people or organizations.
